Only 28 percent support cuts-only budget -- so why do legislators want to pass one?!?!

A poll released today by EPIC-MRA showed that only about a quarter of Michigan voters support a cuts-only solution to the state budget crisis.

That must be news to legislative leaders in Lansing who are pushing for one!

The vast majority -- 59 percent -- of the voters polled wanted some combination of cuts and new revenue. Only 28 percent thought the budget should be balanced through cuts alone.

And three quarters of voters wanted to prevent cuts to public education -- the highest percentage of any potential cut polled.

Voters -- and MEA members -- are making their voices heard at the Capitol about these massive budget cuts, telling legislators to come up with real solutions to our budget crisis.

Have you contacted your representative and senator? If not, do it today! If you have, do it again!

EPIC-MRA press release and poll now attached

The press release and poll data that EPIC-MRA released yesterday is attached. It got lots of news coverage last night, especially since the budget process has slowed to a crawl as our leaders in Lansing realize these cuts are wrong for our state (and aren't supported by their constituents).
