Public education is the cornerstone of our democracy. Opening the doors of opportunity for children of all different backgrounds and ensuring that every student has an education that prepares them to be active participants in our economy and civic life is essential to our society. Public schools need to be fully funded to keep class sizes small and recruit and retain the highest quality teachers. Finally, we must always remember that a good education requires the active participation of parents, teachers and the entire community pulling together to give each young person an equal chance to reach their full potential.
